We woke this morning to rain and wind. The wind increased during the morning and by the time we arrived at the golf course at lunchtime the rain had cleared but it was still very windy. We had a pleasant round of golf with a couple of men who didn't know each other. They were friendly and Al in particular was a very good golfer. He hit the ball much further than any of us were able. Despite the early rain the greens were still very fast and we all struggled with putting. If you hit the ball slowly it seemed to curl away just as it reached the hole and if you hit it harder it goes a long way past tthe hole.

Baby racoon

We saw some wildlife on the course today. There was a baby alligator lying on the edge of a lake and some racoons edging towards the buggies looking for any food in them. They are apparently nocturnal but presumably have learnt that if they want to find food in buggies they need to be out hunting during the day. Ben had a packet of biscuits taken from the buggy a couple of days ago by a crow.

On the way home we did a food shop at a Publix which is not on Anna Maria Island. We have been tipped off by a couple of people that both food and eating out are considerably cheaper off the island.
